Vintage HANDY TYPE SET RUBBER TYPE, Great Graphics Box! - (eBay item 290181063208 end time Nov-19-07 18:45:00 PST)

This old printing stamp set comes in the original box with a great old red, black and white graphic design on the lid of a printer and his young apprentice. This set came out in the twenties or thirties. The lid is marked, "Handy Type Set Rubber Type, ©T.S.T. Co. Made in U.S.A. No. 6004-S."

Inside is most of the original gear which includes tweezers, stamp pad with a gold lion on the box lid, a large wooden tray, a three-row wooden stamp, and a one-row metal stamp with wooden handle. The set of the rubber type is incomplete. There's no instruction sheet, just a card that says, "Print Cards & Tickets by the Hundreds."

There's an extra stamp marked, "Hackendahl Mfg. Co., 95 State St., Rochester, N.Y." The name and address it stamps is, "Mr. Gerald C. Shaner, 916 Florence Avenue, East McKeesport, PA." There's a card with that stamped on both sides beneath the words, "Novelty Shop."

The ink pad is in a narrow red metal box with a gold lion and is marked, "Ink Pad for Rubber Stamps, Made in U.S.A., Size A." It needs new felt and new ink. Both original stamps have black ink stains. The box lid is stamped inside.
