Vintage SHRINER VEST Heavy Silver Embroidery and Fringe

Vintage SHRINER VEST Heavy Silver Embroidery and Fringe - eBay (item 310055667053 end time Jun-06-08 18:05:00 PDT)

This vintage Shriner vest is actually a half-vest with no back at all. It's red velvet with heavy silver braid, embroidery and fringe. The right side says, "Eclipse" and the left says, "892." The back neck has a label that says, "Uniforms, The Lilley Co., Columbus, Ohio."

The silver embroidery is so thick and heavy it stands a half inch above the fabric surface. The back is lined in red cotton/polyester fabric. The semi-vest has three chain links like a closure at the front. It doesn't open and close, but has a small hook on top. There's a red jewel in the center of each large embroidered star.

Old STANLEY YANKEE NO. 31A Spiral Ratchet Screwdriver!

Old STANLEY YANKEE NO. 31A Spiral Ratchet Screwdriver! - eBay (item 310055487250 end time Jun-05-08 18:49:37 PDT)

This vintage ratchet screwdriver is marked, "Stanley Yankee No. 31A, Made in U.S.A." The red handle is marked, "Yankee." The side of the front end piece is marked, "Oil."

This big, strong, heavy tool is very well made, like all Stanley tools. The red handle is wooden with heavy enamel paint. The metal is still bright and shiny with signs of use. It's over 14 inches long when closed and 22 1/2 inches when you pull the spiral center out.

WWII British Army No. 4 MK II 5 BAYONET, SCABBARD, FROG

WWII British Army No. 4 MK II 5 BAYONET, SCABBARD, FROG - eBay (item 310055027158 end time Jun-03-08 18:38:05 PDT)

This WWII British Army bayonet is marked, "No. 4 MK II, 5" on one side a7789" on the other side. I see no maker's mark on the scabbard. I can't read what's stamped on the back of the frog except it starts out with a "2".

An eBay seller sold a bayonet like this and said it was for an Enfield rifle. Another seller said it was for probing mines which explains the somewhat screwdriver shaping on the tip.

Vintage GOP Elephant CAMPAIGN COOKIE CUTTER, Orig Box!

Vintage GOP Elephant CAMPAIGN COOKIE CUTTER, Orig Box! - eBay (item 310055026237 end time Jun-05-08 18:34:23 PDT)

This vintage tin cookie cutter is shaped like the GOP elephant and comes in the original box marked, "Campaign Cookie Cutter. Vote Republican. GOP." It makes 2 by 3 inch cookies.

Besides the vintage red, white and blue patriotic box, there's also the insert with ordering instructions. They offered 72 cutters at ten cents each at an address with no zip code. Another eBayer sold one recently and said this cookie cutter was produced during the Roosevelt Presidential campaign in the 1940's.

Antique Coal Furnace Tool PENINSULAR SHAKER Fire Tender

Antique Coal Furnace Tool PENINSULAR SHAKER Fire Tender - eBay (item 310055024509 end time Jun-03-08 18:28:56 PDT)

This vintage tool is a Peninsular furnace shaker used to tend the coal fire. From time to time the fire needed shaken down or more coal added or ashes removed to keep the home fire burning. Lots of fun. The shaker is marked, "Peninsular, 2."

One shaped end fits over a furnace piece to do the work. The handle end looks somewhat like a fat screwdriver. I'm guessing this furnace shaker is made of steel.

Antique Coal Furnace Tool KEELEY SHAKER Old Fire Tender

Antique Coal Furnace Tool KEELEY SHAKER Old Fire Tender - eBay (item 310054619809 end time Jun-02-08 19:48:05 PDT)

This vintage tool is a Keeley furnace shaker used to tend the coal fire. From time to time the fire needed shaken down or more coal added or ashes removed to keep the home fire burning. Lots of fun. The shaker is marked, "Keeley, 192K."

One shaped end fit over a furnace piece to do the work. The other end is a hollow cage handle to keep it cool enough that you didn't burn your hand. I'm guessing it's made of steel.
