Skinny BRASS GUITAR PLAYER Statuette Stone Base XLNT!

Skinny BRASS GUITAR PLAYER Statuette Stone Base XLNT! - eBay (item 310105218162 end time Dec-05-08 18:13:21 PST)

This tall skinny guitar player statuette is made of brass and stands on a green stone base. I see no maker's mark. It's highly stylized and quite eye-catching.

It's in excellent condition. The tiny white mark on the guitar neck was just a piece of paper towel stuck there after a wipe down for picture taking. The roughness here and there seems deliberate and part of the style.

Vintage METAL KALEIDOSCOPE Possibly Brass, Very Old Toy

Vintage METAL KALEIDOSCOPE Possibly Brass, Very Old Toy - eBay (item 310095311291 end time Oct-31-08 18:52:00 PDT)

This vintage metal kaleidoscope is possibly brass and still works great. It has what looks like colorful stone or ceramic chips inside to make the designs. I see no maker's mark.

The metal has some missing finish and numerous fingerprints and other marks. The patterns tend to look dark, either from faded design elements or cloudy glass. It seems very old.

Vintage PAIR BRASS CANDLESTICKS 12.5-Inch Tall Spirals!

Vintage PAIR BRASS CANDLESTICKS 12.5-Inch Tall Spirals! - eBay (item 310031818009 end time Mar-20-08 18:16:33 PDT)

This pair of brass candlesticks features spiral stems that are thicker at the bottom than at the top, square bases with feet and round cups with two grooved lines and bowls to catch the candle wax.

They stand 12 1/2 inches high, about 4 1/2 inches across the base and weigh over a pound apiece. Each stick unscrews into four pieces: base, stick, bowl and cup. There are some irregularities in the finish, especially on the bases. They don't appear to be absolutely straight.

Click the link under the picture to see this pair of candlesticks or click the link above the picture to see all candlesticks currently on eBay.

Vintage 10-In TURKISH BRASS COFFEE GRINDER Hand Cranks!

Vintage 10-In TURKISH BRASS COFFEE GRINDER Hand Cranks! - eBay (item 310025497088 end time Feb-28-08 18:15:00 PST)

This vintage brass coffee grinder is marked on the bottom, "KTM Original Mocca." There are bands of design around the tube and much patina.

It was difficult to get the two parts separated. We didn't get the top off. Maybe you know how to persuade the brass top to loosen so you can actually use the grinder.

Vintage Brass HORSE AND CARRIAGE Hansom Cab Rolls Turns

Vintage Brass HORSE AND CARRIAGE Hansom Cab Rolls Turns - eBay (item 310024917112 end time Feb-26-08 18:14:51 PST)

This vintage brass horse and carriage have no maker's mark. It's a Hansom cab, a two-wheeled horse-drawn carriage that was the 19th-century version of a taxi. Two passengers could sit inside and the driver sat behind.

Someone glued blue felt inside the carriage and where the driver sits. The carriage one can be removed, because the glue dried out. The other one is loose.

The back piece can move a little closer to the cab back. The horse can tip forward or backward in his harness, as can the carriage. The wheels spin easily and the horse can turn the carriage. The two pieces are not locked in a tight straight line at all. That's very nice for arranging as you please for display.

The horse and carriage are 15 inches long and weigh over 3 1/2 pounds. There are solder spots on the front of the carriage and on the horse's back, neck and mouth. Sorry the cab isn't level in the photos. It stands nice and level when you know it's supposed to. D'oh!

Vintage Ornate BRASS PEACOCK PILL BOX Five Compartments

Vintage Ornate BRASS PEACOCK PILL BOX Five Compartments - eBay (item 310020886557 end time Feb-12-08 18:07:15 PST)

This vintage brass peacock pill box features five compartments decorated with small peacocks surrounding a larger central peacock. I see no maker's mark anywhere. I could believe it comes from India or another Hindu country because it's so ornate. Besides the six peacocks, there is an elephant head with upraised trunk for good luck on the five legs.

How does it open? Turn the central peacock to unscrew the bolt beneath him. This frees up little tabs so the five compartment lids can be lifted. The compartments are curved leaf shapes about a quarter inch deep. The lids are curved leaf shapes that are another quarter inch deep or high.

Not all the lids open all the way. Maybe you could tinker with that if you want more finger room. I feared breaking something, so didn't mess around. You could use these five compartments for organizing pills for five days, or for five different kinds of pills.
