This old crock pie pan is glazed inside, unglazed outside. The bottom is embossed, "Cook-Rite Cookin-Ware, Economy, Health. Reg. U.S. Pat. Off., Pat 91285."
I never heard of a pie pan made like a crock. Stoneware is supposed to cook evenly, so maybe it's harder to burn your pie? Someone loved this one and used enough to begin wearing off the glaze.
It's a beautiful brown inside like a bean pot. Outside is rather orange-tone clay embossed with easy-to-see lines and hard-to-see leaves.
