Vintage WOODEN BOOK CIGAR BOX Sweetest Story Ever Told!

Vintage WOODEN BOOK CIGAR BOX Sweetest Story Ever Told! - eBay (item 310016186651 end time Jan-26-08 18:50:53 PST)

This wooden book is a cigar box from the 1930s marked, "The Sweetest Story Ever Told" on the lid and it has a monogram design, "ERD." It's made of cedar wood with brass hinges and closure.

For a look at a book like this and other styles of cigar boxes, visit National Cigar Museum

It could be a nice place to stow your Bible or other valuable treasures. How about using it for the family money box?

The lid of the box could use a bit of polish. The "page edges" are gold paint, I think, and have many marks. The hinges and latch work fine and the box is sturdy and solid as the day it was made way back when.

Vintage PA Albright College Yearbook THE SPECULUM 1917!

Vintage PA Albright College Yearbook THE SPECULUM 1917! - eBay (item 310016173028 end time Jan-26-08 17:14:03 PST)

The Speculum 1917 was published by the Junior Class of Albright College in Pennsylvania.

Fascinating old photos reflect the styles and times back then. For these students, topics of interest included suffragettes (American women didn't get the right to vote until 1920) and prohibition (which became law in 1920).

While it looks like a small college, it had fraternities, leagues, clubs, literary societies and teams. The book shows their dormitories, science building, chemical lab, studio, gymnasium and playing field. There are class histories along with photos of the members. Jokes and quotes from the students fill some pages near the end.

The signature on the front flyleaf written in ink with a nib pen says, "Carl H.E. Hoffman, Albright College, 1918." The frontispiece and title page each have a tear, there's some foxing on a few pages, and the top corner of all pages is crimped.
