This skinny hardcover Description and Rules for the Management of the United States Rifle Caliber .30, Model of 1903 was published by the Government Printing Office in 1917. "This manual is published for the information and government of the Regular Army and National Guard of the United States. By order of the Secretary of War: William Crozier, Brigadier General, Chief of Ordnance."
Everything you could ever want to know about the 1903 Caliber .30 rifle is in these 78 pages plus two blueprints. I'm not sure, it the blueprints seem to be how to build the wood parts and construct the gun.
There's a two page list of the ninety-three component parts of the rifle. Diagrams galore fill the pages with explanations of all the parts. Even the cartridges are analyzed in pictures and text. There are charts and tables on range, wind effects, penetration, angles of departure, elevation and temperature effects, dangerous spaces and more.
