DAREDEVIL #1 April 1964 Marvel Comic Bill Everett XLNT! - eBay (item 310140874422 end time May-10-09 18:44:30 PDT)This vintage Marvel comic Daredevil #1 published in April, 1964 features art by Bill Everett. Cover art of DD by Jack Kirby. This excellent copy was read once or twice by the only owner and stored for the last 45 years! It has great cover gloss, good color, interior pages are crisp and fresh.
We are not grading experts but we have made every effort to show and describe the condition. Please do not contact us and tell us we have listed it too high or offer to buy it for a lower price. This is a very excellent copy!
AVENGERS #4 March 1964 Capt. America Appearance XLNT! - eBay (item 250411515139 end time Apr-26-09 19:03:18 PDT)This pivotal issue of Avengers #4 published by Marvel in March, 1964 features the first Silver Age appearance of Captain America after a long hiatus. This is the original comic, not the Golden Record reprint. Gotta love that classic cover by Jack Kirby. Cast of characters includes Captain America, Giant Man, Thor, Iron Man, Sub-Mariner and The Wasp.
Let's talk about the condition. According to the Overstreet Comic Price Guide, a 6.0 Fine (FN) is:
"An above-average copy that shows minor wear but is still relatively flat and clean with no significant creasing or other serious defects." (This copy is flat as a freshly ironed hanky, has a very small crease beside Sub-Mariner, and a 1/4" scuff in the foxing near the spine on the back cover.)
"Some accumulation of minor bindery/printing defects is allowed." (There's a longer crease along the back cover edge that may have happened when it was bundled at the news dealer's.)
"Minor cover wear apparent, with minor to moderate creases." (No wear, two small Marvel chipping bits gone, see minor creases above.)
"Inks show a significant reduction in reflectivity." (None.)
"Blunted corners are more common, as is minor staining, soiling, discoloration, and/or foxing." (This copy has square corners, foxing stains on both sides of front and back cover, age darkening along edges inside covers.)
"Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present." (None.)
"A minor spine roll is allowed." (None.)
"There can also be a 1/4" spine split or severe color break." (None.)
"Staples may show minor discoloration." (None here--staples are on back of comic, shiny and pristine.)
"Minor staple tears and a few slight stress lines may be present, as well as minor rust migration." (No staple tears, no rust at all, a few shallow score marks at spine beside Captain America's name.)
"Paper is tan to brown and fairly supple with no signs of brittleness." (These pages are exactly like that.)
"Minor interior tears at the margin may be present." (Only read once, no tears.)
"Centerfold may be loose." (Nice and tight.)
CGC 6.5 SILVER SURFER #4 Thor, Low Dist. Marvel Comic! - eBay (item 310108893113 end time Dec-18-08 19:53:52 PST)This vintage copy of Silver Surfer #4 published by Marvel Comics Group in February, 1969 is CGC slabbed at 6.5. Stan Lee story, John Buscema cover. John Buscema, Howard Purcell, Sal Buscema and Paul Reinman art. Thor appearance. Hulk, Thing and Hercules cameos. Tales of the Watcher backup story.
Restoration includes: very small amount of color touch on cover (black on two creases at staples). Off-white pages. CGC judged this copy to be worth $700 this May. It's pedigreed with illustrator Joe Wehrle, Jr. as the sole owner.
1972 FANTAGOR #2 Rip Off Press Comic, Corben Art XLNT! - eBay (item 310039134705 end time Apr-14-08 18:30:00 PDT) This underground comic is Fantagor #2 published by Rip Off Press in 1972. Full-color cover art by Gore (Richard Corben). Writers and artist include Gore, Corben, Strnad, Karbonik, Lind, Bliss, Metzger, Arnold and Jaxon.

GROUNDHOG FILES COMIC Joe Wehrle Detective Adventure! - eBay (item 310016671878 end time Jan-28-08 18:10:07 PST) This Groundhog Files self-published black and white comic with a color cover is Joe Wehrle, Jr's charming, off-beat interpretation of the groundhog legend, complete with a groundhog detective on his first case. Actual Punxsutawney landmarks appear.
See Punxsutawney Phil as you've never seen him before. Follow the adventure of a young groundhog detective solving his first case--the kidnapping of the Seer of Seers! Who's got a serious grudge against the most famous groundhog in the world?
It's 5 1/2" by 8 1/2", black and white, 24 pages. All story, no ads! What a concept!
Wehrle is noted for work in Galaxy and IF digest science fiction magazines, covers and interior illustrations in Arkham House and other Mirage Press books, illustrations for Burroughs-oriented journals and on a lighter note, the story and drawings in the Big Little Book Cauliflower Catnip.

GRATEFUL DEAD COMIX 1 Tim Truman Autograph Kitchen Sink - eBay (item 310014292199 end time Jan-18-08 20:02:55 PST) This comic book is Grateful Dead Comix No. 1 published in 1991 by Kitchen Sink Comix. The front cover art is by Dean Armstrong. Inside the back cover is art by Moebius. The artists who illustrated the four stories are listed below. This issue is signed on the contents page by Timothy Truman with a sketch and a message.
