Vintage STANLEY MAGNETIC CLEANER Clothes Brush, Sleeve! - eBay (item 310049635870 end time May-15-08 18:40:25 PDT)This vintage Stanley Magnetic Cleaner comes in the original pasteboard sleeve. The cleaner works by static electricity, I think. Men who worked in powdered metal plants used these cleaners to dust powdered metal off their work clothes before heading home.
The cleaner back says, "Magnetic Cleaner. Stanley Quality +, Westfield, Mass. Patent Pending, Made in U.S.A." A patent number is impressed in the side.
The working surface is five wavy half-inch deep plastic ridges. I just rubbed the cleaner vigorously on the sleeve of my supposedly-clean light gray hoodie I'm wearing and was shocked to see the ridges coated with light gray dust.
The pasteboard sleeve has marvelous vintage graphics. The sleeve is in pretty poor condition with much wear and a big piece missing off one side. It says, "Cleans all kinds of fabrics safely. Cleans quickly by an entirely new principle. Quality Plus Stanley, Westfield, Mass. A Guaranteed Product."
The sleeve back lists the uses:- For Furniture
- For Rugs
- For Automobile Upholstery
- Easy to Clean
There's supposed to be a bristle brush to clean the Cleaner, but that's not here. "Use soft, damp cloth or chamois if more thorough cleaning is desired." One side says:

The other side of the sleeve has a quote by Longfellow, but part of it was printed on the piece that's missing.

Vintage WHITMAN'S TIN CANDY BOX Art Deco Graphic Design - eBay (item 310049418332 end time May-14-08 19:43:02 PDT)This vintage one pound Whitman's candy tin features an elegant art deco design with a lady or princess in a mosaic tile background. It's marked, "Whitman's, 1 lb. net, S. F. W. & S., Inc."
The box is sturdy with good hinges. There's quite noticeable patina inside and out and I think the colors have faded or darkened with age.
Store your trinkets in vintage style in this old Whitman's candy tin.
Carved and Inlaid WOODEN INCENSE BURNER Polished Box! - eBay (item 310049409162 end time May-14-08 18:53:07 PDT)This wooden incense burner is quite beautiful with carved filigree designs and inset golden (maybe brass) metal sun, moon and stars in each side.
A hole in the upright tab holds a long incense stick for burning and the trough in the lid catches the ashes. The lid lifts to reveal a storage area for many incense sticks. The box feels smooth to the touch, strong and sturdy, and it closes with a clack.
I see no maker's mark on this polished wood box with incense sticks inside ready to fill your home with exotic scents.
'65 JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #37 Crossover Comic XLNT! - eBay (item 310049131164 end time May-15-08 18:50:13 PDT) This Justice League of America #37 was a Justice Society crossover issue from August, 1965. It has the first Silver Age appearance of Mr. Terrific. Classic Gardner Fox story. We don't know what artist did this issue.
The front cover shows The Green Lantern, Doctor Fate, Mr. Terrific, The Flash, and The Atom battling a living lightning bolt! This is an excellent unread issue and very collectible copy. See details below.
This copy of Justice League #37 has been in our personal collection since the time it appeared on the newsstand 43 years ago.
Vintage White and Gold BEADED WRIST BAG Zipper, Mirror! - eBay (item 310049108357 end time May-15-08 17:17:09 PDT) This small white and gold beaded bag can be worn on your wrist, because it has a belt on the back (seen in first and last pictures). It closes with a metal zipper with an art deco tab and a patent number. The design on the tab might be an "M" but I'm not sure. Otherwise there's no maker's mark.
Inside is satin lining with a pocket holding a double mirror that's showing its age. Three of the eight big beads are missing. A few of the seed beads of this vintage white and gold beaded wrist bag are missing and some are stained.
2 Wooden FISHING KITTIES IN BOAT Colorful Cats, Fish! - eBay (item 310047870952 end time May-11-08 20:20:12 PDT) Do you like fishing kitties? These two cats in a boat have a catch on the tiger-striped cat's pole. The black dotted cat's pole is missing. A label on the back of the boat says, "Made in Indonesia."
The cats and boat are lightweight, so they might be carved out of balsa wood. It's hard to tell under all the colorful paint.

White Ceramic Cat in Sewing Basket w/ Yarn COOKIE JAR! - eBay (item 310047879972 end time May-11-08 21:19:42 PDT) Do you like cat cookie jars? This white kitten with yellow eyes is lounging in a woven sewing basket amidst a thimble, spool of thread, buttons and a ball of yarn. There's no maker's mark on this ceramic cookie jar.
The cat's head and front legs form the lid. It would be a good jar for smaller cookies as I'm not sure you could get your paws on a big cookie and get it out. The jar mouth is only about 2 1/2 by 3 inches.
The jar part came out of the mold with numerous tiny air bubbles and both parts have numerous minor chips, but this kitty cookie jar is still cute.
