Vintage IDEAL WIRE STRIPPER 22 20 18 16 14 Gauge Blade! - (eBay item 290182077646 end time Nov-22-07 19:00:00 PST)

This old tool confused me at first, so I took a million photos. It's an Ideal wire stripper. The handles are marked, "Ideal, Sycamore, Illinois, Patent Pending."

The photos provide an instruction course in how to use the thing--good if you've never spied a pair, boring if you knew what this tool was on sight.

The cutting blade is marked, "22, 20, 18, 16, 14" above the various size holes, indicating where to place your gauge of wire you're stripping. It's great fun to work because a light squeeze closes the gripper and blade, a hard squeeze spreads the jaws apart and letting go closes it up with a big clack!

Too much information for guys in the know, but I'm a girl, so there.

See more photos on eBay.
