This original fantasy painting was my husband's work. Joe Wehrle, Jr. painted it in 1970 with Pelikan Designers Colors. It's based on his short story, "The Bandemar," which was published in the Clarion Science Fiction Workshop Anthology by Signet Books.
The girl in the painting is Fawn the Dark-Eyed. We'll send you a print-out of the story along with the painting. If you want to read the story now, go to http://www.joewehrle.com/bandemar.html
Wehrle is noted for work in Galaxy and IF digest science fiction magazines, covers and interior llustrations in Arkham House and other Mirage Press books, illustrations for Burroughs-oriented journals and on a lighter note, the story and drawings in the Big Little Book Cauliflower Catnip.
