The back is marked, "SL Knight Sculpture, Salt Lake City, Utah. Crafted by Shallizar. ©1978. Solid Bronze.
The buck has excellent detail in his hide, eye and rack. The background is rough like bark with smooth lighter-color borders on each side that could use a good polishing.
There's a hook and loop for a 1 3/4-inch belt on the back. This belt buckle is very heavy. Would you or one of your hunting buddies enjoy wearing it?
Vintage Bronze ZEBCO 33RD ANNIVERSARY BELT BUCKLE 1.5" - eBay (item 310077290615 end time Aug-26-08 19:20:21 PDT)This vintage belt buckle is an embossed heavy metal with a fisherman and a big 3-D fish on each side of a big "33." I'm guessing it's brass or bronze. The front says, "33rd Anniversary 1955-1988 Zebco 33 Limited Edition.
There's a hook and loop for a 1 1/2-inch belt on the back and an eagle emblem that says, "The Great American Buckle Co., U.S.A." The fine print panel says:Since 1955, over 22 million Zebco 33 reels have been sold to countless anglers who've enjoyed fishing this American standard. Our 33rd anniversary buckle celebrates the legend of "America's Reels."
There's a fancy design on the loop-holder and the words, "Made in U.S.A." along one side.

There's a hook and loop for a 2-inch belt on the back. No maker's mark.
The silvery horse has black detailing and is wearing a black saddle and bridle. No rider. Wonder why? Ha!
Would this be a great first rodeo buckle for some young horse-loving rodeo-rider wannabe that you know?
Antique Victorian GAS JET ALLIGATOR CURLING IRON Rare! - eBay (item 310076956934 end time Aug-25-08 19:01:35 PDT)This antique curling iron is an alligator or crocodile powered by gas. The alligator is quite something with eyes and a textured tail. Very Victorian. The curling tongs are primitive. The control valve turns 180 degrees. I see no maker's mark.
In the photos, I show the closed tongs laid straight up the back of the alligator, but those side spindles could help hold the tongs in place while opened for less heat.
The alligator and the shell around the heating element are rust-colored and feel rough like dusty rusty metal. The gas connection is greenish, maybe copper with patina? The tongs and brackets are another metal, maybe steel?
Oh, the scary things women have used and done for the sake of beauty! Can you imagine this alligator red hot? The smell of singed hair? Burned fingers? Yikes.
Vintage UK MORTAR CASE Hard Green Plastic, Strap, Cap! - eBay (item 310076424032 end time Aug-23-08 18:46:49 PDT)This vintage 81mm mortar case of tough dark green plastic with a screw-on lid and sturdy strap is marked, "C868, 1 Cartridge, 81mm Mortar M821, FUZ MOF-M734, For Mortar M252, Lot RFG88F009-028, UN 0321" and "UK Military Explosive 1.2E" and some little numbers I can't read.
It's empty, no mortar shell in it now, and ought to make a great storage container for something or other. Maps? Arrows? What do you think?
17-Inch Stuffed Animal APE SOLDIER Doll Military Outfit - eBay (item 310075896194 end time Aug-21-08 18:40:17 PDT)
Why this handsome fellow who could be an ape or chimp is wearing a khaki soldier outfit is beyond me, but he's cute. The ear tag says, "Shalom Toy Co., Inc., STC©."
The butt tag front says, "Shalom Toy Co., Inc.© Brooklyn, N.Y. 11232, Lic# N.Y. Conn. 42020 Maine 218 Mass. Ohio 110 PA 5493 RC 5492." The butt tag back says, "All New Materials, Contents, Polyester Filling, Made in China."
He leans forward in his permanent sitting position, refused to perk up and smile for his picture-taking. He has little nubs that look like moles on his right upper lip and above his left eyebrow. Very realistic somehow. Want to take him home with you?
Old 1937 FEED'N THE KITTY Board Game Selchow & Righter! - eBay (item 310075174295 end time Aug-18-08 19:23:46 PDT)This vintage board game says, "Feed'n the Kitty, The Cat's Meow. No. 75 Manufactured by Selchow & Righter Co., New York, N.Y. Made in U.S.A." This is the company that made Parcheesi.
According to the directions, it's a game of skill and chance. "This is a fast moving, hilarious, easy-to-play game, embodying both skill and chance for old and young alike--suitable for 2, 3, or 4 players."
There are supposed to be 60 white poker chips; there are 63. Instead of 20 red and 20 blues, there are 19 of each. (You could mark an extra white one with red or blue, or use a couple buttons.) The only thing you need to supply are 2 dice--1 red and 1 white.
I was looking for the white and black kitties, expecting something like a cat in some way, then discovered they are the little cups. Of course!
Antique Victorian CAST IRON CANDLE BRACKET Lantern Arm! - eBay (item 310075173132 end time Aug-18-08 19:16:50 PDT)This antique cast iron candle or candle lantern bracket is very ornate and eye-catching. It would swing in a half circle away from the wall. I see no maker's mark.
The round support for the candle unscrews from the support arm. You could put a wide glass chimney or fancy globe over the candle flame and the candle could still burn by breathing through the bottom holes.
Otherwise, just plunk a big fat candle there and enjoy.
Vintage ATHLETIC BALL GAUGE Sports Air Pressure Gage! - eBay (item 310075170360 end time Aug-18-08 19:04:45 PDT)This vintage air pressure gauge tells you the air pressure in sporting equipment balls. It measures from 0 up to 30 pounds. It's marked, "Athletic Ball Gauge. U.S. Gauge Co., NY."
The button on the bottom right pushes in and pops right out again, but I don't know what it's for. Maybe resets the gauge? It seems to be stuck on 8 pounds, but I'm not sure how it works. The business end looks like a tire gauge.
This must be an old-time gauge used before the modern ones we're used to these days that look like a pen and have a slide scale pop out the top.
Antique Victorian CAST IRON GAS LIGHT BRACKET Electric? - eBay (item 310074896415 end time Aug-17-08 19:28:06 PDT)This antique swing-arm cast iron gas light bracket is very ornate and eye-catching. It would swing in a half circle. I see no maker's mark.
There's a hole in the bottom of the round globe holder where I supposed gas could enter the light, but I don't understand how it works.
I live in an old house and have vestiges of the original gas lights in the form of gas pipes here and there, cut off and capped. How one would connect to this is beyond me.
Maybe this is an electric light? Missing the part that holds the bulb and has the on/off switch? In any case, it's very pretty.
Vintage "SUNNY SUZY" TOY IRON Tin Electric 5 W Heats Up - eBay (item 310074625795 end time Aug-16-08 19:26:57 PDT)This vintage toy iron is marked, "'Sunny Suzy' Wolverine Supply & Mfg. Co., Pittsburgh, PA. Made in U.S.A. 120 V, 5 W." The plug blades are marked, "Gilbert UL Pat'd." It's probably from the fifties or sixties.
Don't worry, it only gets warm enough to feel warm to the touch, not warm enough to burn little fingers. You can see through the plug as there's no end cap between the blades. Maybe that's not important with such a low-wattage toy.
Does this bring back memories of your childhood?
Vintage Adult Large 3-Inch JUICE HARP Jaw Mouth Music! - eBay (item 310074622972 end time Aug-16-08 19:11:37 PDT)This vintage juice harp is a musical instrument with a million names. It has lots of patina so you might want to clean it up before sticking it into your mouth and playing a tune. I see no maker's mark.
The big end fits into your mouth, so it's definitely adult size. Thrumming the twanger makes it vibrate a bit like a tuning fork. I bet that feels amazing in the mouth.
Apparently Snoopy had such renown as a player, you can buy a Snoopy Harp. If you want to know all about this old-time instrument, visit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jew's_harp
Vintage COPPER OR BRASS BELL 3-Inch Mouth, Yoke, Patina - eBay (item 310074619654 end time Aug-16-08 18:55:18 PDT)This vintage 3-inch bell-shaped bell has so much dark patina I'm not sure if it's copper or brass. A magnet slides right off, for whatever that's worth. It makes a lovely sound. I see no maker's mark, but it's well-made, quite sturdy.
See inside? Green patina and coppery-colored where the clapper hits. The two white spots on the dark outside scratched off after I took the photos. You can shine this bell up if you like. I didn't even try.
Handcrafted Wooden BAGEL HOLDER w/ Handle, Knife Slot! - eBay (item 310074385055 end time Aug-15-08 21:13:40 PDT)This wooden bagel holder is a kitchen safety device that looks great. Plop your bagel into the hollow and slice it in two top to bottom without it squirming and putting your fingers at risk. Gotta love that.
It's hand-made and marked on the bottom, "Handcrafted in US by" followed by a symbol that could be a two-headed snake or the letters "ORY." Or not.
It's well-made with a slot to guide your knife, a handle to hold it still and a decorative copper circle punched to say, "Bagels." The handle has a leather loop so you can hang it up out of the way between uses.
So, all you need is this holder, a bagel and a knife and you're ready to take care of that tummy rumble whenever it strikes. Well, that and butter, cream cheese, or whatever your taster wants.

Old Still Tin Litho AMSCO SHU-SHINE BANK FOR KIDDIES! - eBay (item 310073654255 end time Aug-12-08 19:01:33 PDT)This vintage bank is in the form of a shoe shine kit. It's made of tin, painted red and has great vintage decals. It says, "Amsco Shu-Shine Bank for Kiddies" and "Kidd-E Shu-Shine Bank by Amsco." The colorful graphics look like art from the late forties.
There's a coin slot on one end where the decal shows two kids' faces, a nickel, dime and penny. It seems to me a bank ought to have a lid or other closure, but I see no evidence of one on this or any other bank like this online. The metal loops on each end were for a red plastic shoulder strap that's now gone.
It's shaped like an old-fashioned shoe shine kit complete with the ridged step handle for resting a customer's foot while getting a shine. I don't know if it originally came with shoe shine gear or not.
Anna Ayers STYLES FOR 1912 Mail Order Hair, Feathers! - eBay (item 310073296048 end time Aug-11-08 18:58:43 PDT)This vintage mail order catalog booklet is called "Styles for 1912" and says, "A Peep Inside Will Make You Beautiful." It came from Mrs. Anna Ayers, Importer and Manufacturer in Chicago, Ill.
This booklet features "Beautifying Requisites, Human Hair Goods, Pure Cosmetics, Toilet Articles, Hair Bleaches, Hair Colorings, Etc. Ostrich Feathers."
Here's a bit of what Anna Ayers said:Clothes may hide defects in physique, but the face, if it is beautiful and crowned with luxuriant hair, wields influence supreme. Mere man is susceptible. A pretty face attracts more than a huge bank account, and for hundreds of years, in fact since the time of Adam and Eve, women's greatest asset in life's battle has been a beautiful face and a crowning mass of beautiful hair.
My service is for those who have not been blessed with the natural charms but who strive to acquire them, and for those who wish to preserve their natural beauty and avoid the ravages of time. By dint of exhaustive study and research I have perfected ways and means that if properly used are certain of success.
The products are presented in drawings, fascinating for their styles, usage and prices. If you love old advertisements, this booklet is a treasure trove.
1953 Geraldine Clyne MISTRESS MARY POP-UP 3-D Rhyme Art - eBay (item 310073294167 end time Aug-11-08 18:50:47 PDT)This vintage pop-up is by Geraldine Clyne, illustrating the children's rhyme Mistress Mary. It's marked, "Mistress Mary, Geraldine Clyne, ©J.S. Pub. Co., New York, U.S.A. Patent Pending." I see no date on it, but it was published in 1953 according to another seller online.
I found the following information at: http://www.popuplady.com/mov-history2.htm Also from New York was Geraldine Clyne who produced the Jolly Jump-up series from the late 1930s to the 1950s. She used fan-folded pop-ups, which are simple accordion, cut-and-folded illustrations. Her subjects ranged from the poetry of Robert Louis Stevenson, to life-styles in the new suburbia, to the imagined frontier of space travel.
1983 DONNA SUMMER STANDEE Waitress She Works Hard Promo - eBay (item 310072774446 end time Aug-09-08 19:20:19 PDT)This Donna Summer standee features the popular singer dressed in a waitress outfit, likely to promote her hit, "She Works Hard For the Money." She's wearing the same outfit in a different pose on the record and CD covers. It says, "Donna Summer on Mercury Records & Tapes."
The fine print at the bottom says, "©1983 Phonogram International. Manufactured and Marketed by Polygram Records, Inc. Printed in U.S.A."
It's made of very stiff paperboard with a fold-out bracket that locks open so she stands upright, almost 19 inches high.
